TIP 002. Change Your Morning, Change Your Life

Howdy there, just the tippers! I’m so glad you stopped by for another TIP of the week! Let’s get right into it! I’m a firm believer that the direction of your day is set by your mindset and to cultivate the right mindset you need some sort of morning practice or routine. Something that will get you out of bed on the right side and out the door with a pep in your step!

Do you currently have a morning routine?  I’d love to share with you about the book I read that changed my life by changing my morning! The book is called “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod and it’s nothing short of a miracle! After reading this book, my life has never been the same! Hal illustrates 6 morning practices that if done on the daily will surely kickstart your morning and set the tone for a positive and productive day! He calls these 6 practices the LIFE SAVERS! 

S – Silence -This can be simply sitting in silence, meditating, praying, deep breathing, reflection…pick the one that works best for you and just take a few minutes for yourself.

A - Affirmations - Here you can choose an affirmation that is relevant to something currently going on in your life. I like to choose a different “I AM” statement each week and repeat this over and over. For example, this week ‘I AM DEDICATED TO MY GOALS”…I also choose an inspirational quote for the week that I write down on a notecard and read each day during my affirmation practice. This week the quote is “Remember, when you change your inner world — your life — then your outer world — your life situation — will improve in parallel.”

V - Visualize - This is my favorite practice!! Growing up playing sports, I got very good at this! I would visualize the entire game before I played it! This practice helped me so much in sports but now helps me with other aspects of my life…whether it be getting ready for an interview, a date, or just my day in general! Visualize exactly how you want it to go, who you want to see, what you want to do and then get ready to watch your day unfold - you might just be pleasantly surprised.

E - Exercise - I am very passionate about this practice as my career revolves around fitness, but I think it’s important for people to know how beneficial exercising is in the morning…even if only for a few minutes, it can significantly boost your energy, enhance your overall health, improve self-confidence and emotional well-being, as well as enable you to think better and concentrate longer! You can understand why this is so important to do first thing in the morning! I personally do this practice last, in order to do my full workout, but if you only have 10 minutes, then you can do some quick jumping jacks, pushups, or sit-ups to get the blood flowing.

R – Read -Take a moment to think about what you want to gain from the book you choose each day and pick accordingly...then spend at least 10 minutes reading, or my personal commitment is 10 pages a day.

S - Scribe - This is just a fancy word for journaling…I like to keep a gratitude journal and write down 5 things each day for which I am grateful. Ever wanted to write a book? This could be a great time to dedicate to starting that goal!

There you have it…6 practices aka. LIFE SAVERS to help change your morning and save you from a life of unfulfilled potential! You can choose to do these 6 practices in any order that works for you, but it is suggested you set your alarm for 1 hour earlier than you normally get up and put these practices to work! I can’t tell you enough how much this changed my life for the better. I hope it does the same for you!
