017.  Lose Reception on Purpose

Happy Tuesday y’all! Today’s TIP is “Lose Reception On Purpose” – Have you ever thought about how upset we get when we lose reception, or our phone dies and we think it is the end of the world if we don’t have a charger within arms reach?!

It is sad, but so true that in today’s busy, fast-paced world where most people are getting arthritis in their thumbs from constantly scrolling through social media platforms and the hottest new apps, we are quickly losing touch with reality. We are losing meaningful connections.

We need to put down the phones and close the computers. Turn off the TV. Shut down media.

We truly need to disconnect to reconnect.

Reconnect with yourself. Reconnect with nature. Reconnect with people.

We need to get lost.

Get lost in conversation. Lost in nature. So lost, we forget about time.

Our relationships with ourselves and others just aren’t like they used to be! I miss good old-fashioned relationships where people pick up the phone and call you. I feel like there was less miscommunication when we talked on the phone versus trying to decode emoji’s.

We need to pick at least an hour a day that we choose to lose reception on purpose. Read a book, meditate, go for a hike, or grab coffee with a friend and catch up – reception free! This is the only way we can truly be present and enjoy these moments!

“Get offline. Free your mind. Go outside. Look up at the sky. Take in the beauty of the real world. Exchange a smile. Reclaim free time. Update your state, not just your status. Disconnect to reconnect”

Life is happening RIGHT NOW – outside of our screens! Let’s start really enjoying life and all it has to offer!

Drive away from the city and see the stars. Go camping. Take a vacation and leave your phone off the entire time! Send hand written thank you cards instead of text messages. Write a handwritten note asking someone out on a date with a check yes or no box. Leave little post it notes for your friends to let them know you are thinking about them.

Be present. Be happy and for goodness sakes put down your phone and reconnect with your life!

I challenge you to 1 social media (technology) free day per week!!! You can do it!! I am in this with you!  I am picking SUNDAY!

Good luck team! I believe in YOU!

With love and gratitude,

Lauren
